Explain the similarities and differences between the Ten Commandments and Beatitudes.

16 comments:

  1. The similarities is that the ten commandments and the beatitudes are both covenants. One is the law of the Old covenant given by Moses after he fasts for forty days and forty nights. The other is the law of the New covenant given by Jesus after He fasts for forty days and forty nights. Its a type.

The difference between the ten commandments and the beatitudes as revealed to me today is simply that the beatitudes are harder to follow.

  3. The 10 Commandments are basically the Dont’s of the bible and if you break them your in huge trouble.

    The differences are
    1. The Commandments are laws and the beatitudes are actually how you should act.
    2. I think that the beatitudes are harder to follow then the commandments.
    3. Also an example of this would be a driver’s licences it is by law you must have a driver licence to drive and to have a drivers licence you must know the rules of the road. This is like the Commandments and the beatitudes.

    Some Similarity were
    1. They were made at the same time.
    2. They are both something you need to follow
    3. God made the 10 Commandments and Jesus made the Beatitudes

  4. Q: Explain the similarities and differences between the Ten Commandments and Beatitudes.

A: Clearly there are differences and similarities between the Ten Commandments and the beatitudes some of the similarities are that they were both given round the time when Jesus was alive and he both respected the beatitudes and commandments. Another example of similarities is Jesus both respected them and followed them and he wanted us to follow both of those commandments. They are also similar because they are both from the same religion and as being Catholics we should follow both the beatitudes and commandments.

Some of the differences are that they have both been given by different people back in Jesus time, one was given by Jesus and the other was given by Moses. another point is that the beatitudes and commandments are two complete different thing as one is telling us to be peaceful and blessing and the other is telling us not what to do for example they shall not steal this is telling us as Christians to not steal anything because it’s the wrong thing to do. My next point is that these both have different numbers the commandments are 10 and the beatitudes are 8.

    1. This answer is incorrect. "they were both given round the time when Jesus was alive" No. The 10 Commandments were given to Moses and Israel some 2,000 years before Christ was born. And Jesus gave the Beatitudes.

  6. The Ten Commandments and beatitudes are similar because the rules are both from god and show the rules that the people must follow and were both recorded in the bible to teach the new world these commandments and beatitudes in both Christianity and Judaism. The commandments and beatitudes are also both covenants one is the law of the Old covenant given by Moses after he fasts for forty days and forty nights. The other one is the law of the new covenant given by Jesus after He fasts for forty days and forty nights.
Both the commandments and the beatitudes are specific they are good but they don’t completely ovoid evil and the commandments and the beatitudes were given to the chosen people. They are both commandments that tell people what to do.

  7. What are the differences and the similarities between the 10 commandments and the beatitudes?
The similarities between the 10 commandments and the beatitudes are that they were made around the same time when Jesus was around. Well they both suggest ways that we should live our lives.
The differences is the 10 commandments says that you shouldn’t do bad things like ‘you shall not murder’ and many more. Beatitudes says thing like ‘blessed who are the poor’ these sayings are more to help people in their troubles and 10 commandments is saying things that you shouldn’t do to people.

  8. Similarities- Ten Commandments and Beatitudes
. They are both written for us, for us to act upon it by God. God was the one who created both the Ten Commandments and The Eight Beatitudes for us to reflect and act upon what he ask for us to do in our everyday life.
. They are both specific they are not of generic approaches. They are both direct for us to understand it clearly so we humans can act and reflect upon it in every way possible in our day to day life.
. They are both of imperatives directions, not suggestions not options they are the Ten Commandments and The Eight Beatitudes morals and principles that we humans should live by and stand by.

    Differences- Ten Commandments and Beatitudes
. The Eight Beatitudes were written and given to us from God himself, the Beatitudes was not a prophet that someone a messenger spread the word of this new principles statements to live by it was God himself who came to earth and spread and told people about these eight Beatitudes to live by and to take it seriously in the peoples everyday life. While the Ten Commandments were created from God but it wasn't himself that spread the word of these ten morals to live by and stand by as it was a messenger who received these ten principles known by its today name to write it down somewhere and to spread the news about these ten morals that the people around the world should live by.
. The Beatitudes are morals to live by, to pratice of it to fully be committed to living by it and standing by it in everything that we approach in life which being in everyday life situation we must act upon The Eight Beatitudes to answer and solve our situations. While the Ten Commandments are morals to chose to live by as it may result in sin. As we have the ability to live by these morals but know that we would some day trumble and fail that specific commandments in our normal lives, which we have reconciliation to be cleansed and washed for the bad we have done, reflecting on what we have done, learn from that mistake and when we approach that same situation again we this time know how we should solve fix the situation.

  11. Comparing The Ten Commandments and The Beatitudes reveals an important distinction. The Commandments come with the threat of punishment for any human being that does not submit to their edict. The Beatitudes come with the potential for reward for any human being willing to give enough focus to come to some understanding of what they have to say. I believe The Beatitudes have particular value today, no matter what your religious affiliation, because they teach empathy and allow you to consider what it might be like to be in a position of weakness.
